ALECK BOVICK, Bombshell in Distress
SEXY ACTRESS Aleck Bovick was only 13 when she went to Japan to work as a GRO.
“I earned a lot of money there,” she said, “but it was very hard. You can only miss work if you’re already half dead.”
She recalled that she still had to go to the bar where she worked even if her face was swollen because of a bad tooth. But the experience, she said, toughened her.
When she returned to Manila, Aleck hooked up with Coco Simmo, who became her lover and manager. She pursued a singing and acting career, and ended up doing bold roles.
In 2003, Aleck bagged the FAMAS Best Actress Award for her role in “Tampisaw.” Two years later, she was also named Best Supporting Actress in “Naglalayag,” which starred Nora Aunor, and was directed by Maryo J. De Los Reyes.
Through all this, Aleck had to endure personal pain in the hands of Simmo.
“Hawak niya ako sa leeg,” Aleck narrated. “Hindi ako pwede lumabas ng bahay. Hindi ako pwede manood ng sine. Lahat ng kita ko binibigay ko sa kanya.”
But Aleck finally said “enough” to Coco when he asked her to be in a ménage a trios with him and another bold actress.
“Yes, I did what he asked me to do,” Alex admitted. “Wala akong magagawa. Mahal ko siya .”
In 2004, Aleck fled the condo unit she had shared with Simmo with only the clothes on her back. She went missing for several days. She resurfaced under the protection of Sen. Jamby Madrigal, who helped Aleck file a suit for estafa and exploitation and violence against women against Simmo. The cases are still pending at the Department of Justice.
Aleck is in love again—with actor Carlo Maceda.
“He’s also my best friend,” she said.
